Lt Col Alex Plechash, USMC (Ret.) Graduated from the Naval Academy with distinction in 1975, being both the No. 1 ranked Marine and Aerospace Engineer in his class. After his initial infantry training at Quantico he went on to flight school, earning his wings in 1977 and eventually amassing nearly 2000 hours in fighters of various types; principally the F-4 Phantom. While preparing to apply for the Astronaut program, he was compelled to leave active duty for family reasons and served out his career in the Marine Reserve.
In his civilian career, he has held a number of executive positions with a few Fortune 500 companies and more recently in financial services. He is currently a Senior VP and Division Manager for FOLIO Institutional, a web-based online brokerage company headquartered in McLean, VA.
Alex has been deeply involved in a variety of veteran issues and organizations including being both a National Trustee and President of the Upper Midwest Chapter of the U. S. Naval Academy Alumni Association. In addition, he is serving out his last term as President of the Twin Cities Council of the Navy League. Apart from his USNAAA and Navy League leadership, he is in his seventh year as a Naval Academy “Blue & Gold” Admissions Officer.
He has been very active in church, politics and civic affairs including being a volunteer firefighter for the city of Wayzata, an activity he shares with his wife.
