Tee It Up for the Troops was founded in 2005 by the loved ones and friends of a soldier returning from Iraq. The organization was launched after the soldier selflessly asked for a way to support returning service members.
Today, Tee It Up for the Troops is a robust golf fundraiser organization that has donated more than $10,000,000 to over 335 veteran service organizations.
Tee It Up for the Troops raises money through individualized fundraisers and includes ceremonies and other opportunities to reflect and commemorate the sacrifices many soldiers have made for our country.
Fundraising dollars go towards a number of vetted organizations who help veterans heal, transition, grow, and thrive.
Tee It Up for the Troops prioritizes entities that work in these fields of critical importance:
- PTSD and traumatic brain injuries
- Veteran suicide awareness and prevention fields
- Adaptative and rehabilitative recreational fields
- Veteran housing and employment services
A Tee It Up for the Troops golf fundraiser is a unique event that gives participants the opportunity to commemorate the many sacrifices made by veterans and assist worthwhile organizations that support the men and women who have served our nation.
Golf fundraisers are designed to serve as an emotional experience for participants to connect civilians with servicemembers. Half of all funds raised in each event stays right in the local community that hosts the fundraiser. This strategy is designed to ensure veterans receive immediate impact after a fundraiser.
For those interested in hosting a golf fundraiser, Tee It Up for the Troops provides coordination for a golf tournament and a playbook to empower local support staff and volunteers. We’re proud to rely on great volunteers and local support chapters to organize and host events. Less than 5% of tournament proceeds goes to general overhead, which means events are grassroots efforts that have a profound impact on veterans.
Aside from individual events across the country, Tee It Up for the Troops also helps arrange the Longest Day of Golf marathon. This event allows golfers to support no matter where they are.
Money from the event goes towards the REUNION program which is designed to help reunite service members who were separated due to illness, injury, changes in rehabilitation, or other unforeseen circumstances. So far, the program has reunited more than 300 veterans.
